Resources: Working with your financial advisor

Questions to ask your investment advisor

Below are some questions to ask when selecting a new investment advisor or for talking with your current advisor:

  1. What do you know about SRI or values-based investing?
  2. If I/we have specific criteria we would like to implement, what kind of SRI research do you use?
  3. How does the performance of specific SRI mutual funds compare to funds that I/we currently own?

The only right answer to these questions are answers that make you comfortable with your investment advisor.  SRI is a process that requires ongoing vigilance.  If you choose to pursue this process you may discover that answers acceptable to you now will not be acceptable to you in a few years.
